Dear all,

            Welcome to AS computing class. I am Dr.Ravi your facilitator for this course. This course consists of two modules, theory and practicals. In theory we will have 12 chapters and in practicals we do have programming classes. You will sit for theory and practical exams at the end of the course, which is conducted by CIE.

Input devices =
Input devices are different pieces of hardware that are used to transfer data from the user to the processor 

Example of input devices =
mouse, keyboard, joystick , etc.

 

Output devices =
Output devices are any piece of computer hardware equipment used to transfer data from the processor to the user 

Examples = monitor, printer , speakers

-A% = integer

-A# = Double precision

-A! = Single precision

integers MUST BE in the range of -32768 to +32767

any number higher than this range and lower than 8 digits are called single precision

any number higher than this range and higher than 8 digits are called double precision

can i know te difference between system software and operating system?

as far as i know some disadvantages of integrated software are the data may not be compatible with other software and some of the application in the software is not equal in term of performance( for example in microsoft office the Words apps is good but other apps like excel may not be so good in as Words)..

you can't upgrade (or fix) just one part, as all the software is intergrated into one application.

Another problem with intergrated software is that they usually have have weak areas, meaning that they may have a brilliant word processing application, but a below average spreedsheet program.

Also in the opinion of the user Wolf_Soldier, i also tend to lean towards the idea that because there are multiple programs and utility software all complied together, they don't tend to specialise in one section. When you have one company trying to improve lots of different programs at once, the individual programs tend advance at different rates. Though this shouldn't be the case with multiple companies supporting the intergrated software set.

And to add it is also memory hungry, it takes up more space than an average package

You would use an operating system on your pc/laptop to run all the processes and manage all the hardware and resources contained in your unit, also to manage the applications you have installed there.. whereas you would have system software or application software to sit on top of your OS to manage you day to day emailing, word processing, faxing, photos, music downloads etc...
