            Welcome to AS computing class. I am Dr.Ravi your facilitator for this course. This course consists of two modules, theory and practicals. In theory we will have 12 chapters and in practicals we do have programming classes. You will sit for theory and practical exams at the end of the course, which is conducted by CIE.

Dear Mujahid,

You can delete the file using del command. Kill command works in BASIC programming language and few other languages. Not at command prompt for removing a file.

Dear Amir, 

                    You are right, this is what i missed in the classroom, I am sorry about it. I should have mentioned it. It is not lock, but it is called "write notch". It is used to protect your data from being erased by mistake.

           It looks as if you have posted this comment not to disappoint me. I think we had a chance some of them in classroom and added to it i had uploaded 3 powerpoint presenations in your discussion forum, I think that should be sufficient.

Hello Amir, We have not touched anything on software, may be today we will explore in to it. You should know about it more, when we discuss on utility programs. While teaching you DOS i just gave you an idea of utility programs, but did not share much on utility programs as to how you need to answer in CIE exam. Will do when i start a chapter on software.

Yes, we can install two operating system in a single pc.

Commands are direct commands that hit the OS. If you can understand the use of more commands (that is command line commands) you can sure write assembly language that can even change the BIOS content, or can even work as a virus. These commands are mainly helpful for System programmers. Not for application programmers like us. More when i teach you about softwares.

If i'm not mistaken, i've read somewhere tht apple macbooks can now be installed with both Mac OS as well as Windows. And it's possible to interchange between them at the start up screen or something(However, they can't be used at the same time). But I don't think PC's can use Mac OS right??

In the video about RAM also known as Random Access Memory, I Have learned that the RAM is part of the memory.. It is a flash/ memory which means that when the computer is off, the data in the RAM is erased..

yes you could has windows os installed on a mac...u cannot use them simultaneously..u need to choose which operating system to boot in when the computer start (when it still in dark background)...but there is might be other way to use them at same time..such way is to use software called virtual machine ...well that is as far as i know...hope this help

Each RAM have different DDR like DDR2 and DDR3. What is DDR and how does it works?

Based on the Formatting video, I've learned that
- we have can repair or upgrade the version of window ( operating system) through formatting
- we have to install the window inside the hard disk
