Cats and Rats Story

 

 

 

Long, long time ago, in a peaceful verdant upland called Kolej Yayasan UEM, there were only 4 chalets. A chalet for male students, a chalet for female students, a chalet for staffs and a chalet for supporting staff. Unfortunately, one day, a major problem had occurred which there was a group of rats also lived in the chalets.

Then, all thanked to Mrs Beadsworth who brought her cats along with her in her house. The cats chased the rats out from one chalet to another chalet. So, the puzzle of how many cats were chasing out the rats and how many rats can be eaten at one chalet is as shown as below-

 

Animals in roles: x=the cats, y=the rats.  1^st Chalet,  =x-y . Then you have to multiplies by 2 because at every chalet, the number of the rats and the cats increases. The second chalet,   =  2x-2y-y=2x-3y. Then Multiplies by 3 in the third chalet

  = 6x-9y-y = 6x-10y. And lastly in forth chalet, please multiplies by 4.

 

 So, the final solving should be like this:

= 24x-40y-y = 24x-41y

= 24x-41y = 0

= 41/24 = x/y

You guys should already have the answer right?:

x =41 and y = 24
