Dear ICT students of Jan 2013 batch under Dr.Ravichandran, I welcome you all this Web portal, which you will be using for your entire course. This http://as-computing.ning portal is were you will have to upload / post all the classroom based activities.

The CIE ICT task will have to be handed to be in person at the end of each CIE task class and the question paper/ CIE folder should not be take with you under any circumstances. That is, the folder should be given to me after your use in class once you complete your Cie task for that particular class.

As of 28th of January 2013;

We; the block 3 class of Dr Ravi had learned two things in class;

1. How to put a video that is not in video format into a power point slide.  ( we use .swf instead! )

and

2. How to do mail merge.

I'd love to write the step by step for both techniques, but it's few minutes to lunch break, and I can't wait to go back to my chalet.

Today i learned how to transfer a SWF file into a Power Point. Helps to organize and ensure that the slides are presented without any disruption. Besides that, a critical part of our lesson today was learning how to utilize the Mail Merging option in Microsoft Word by inserting a document from Microsoft Excel.

Today we learned how to search for swf files for animations, and then to incorporate it into a powerpoint file. Who knew powerpoint had a built in player? It saves a lot of time, and now we don't have to get frustrated with faulty Youtube links slowing down/ disrupting Powerpoint presentations. Besides that, we learnt how to use the Merge Mail function in Word using Microsoft Excel.
