I am your facilitator Dr.Ravichandran ( you can call me Dr.Ravi), I will be your course facilitator for AS computing and A2 computing. I will start communicating with you in this discussion forum - where you can start posting your queries and useful resources.

You are highly encouraged to interact with me and also with your peers as the class begins from 30th July 2013.

All the best and keep moving. Do not hesitate to ask and send your queries if you have one.

Hi Maizatul, Good piece of programming codes to demonstrate two dimensional array. However, I wish you need to discuss with me to improve this code.
Regards,
All the best,
Dr.Ravi
convert any binary number into decimal number;

Private Sub Command1_Click()
a = InputBox("enter binary number")
b = Len(a)
For k = 1 To Len(a)
b = b - 1
d = Mid$(a, k, 1)
e = Val(d) * (2 ^ b)
s = s + e
Next k
Print s: MsgBox "done": End
End Sub
This is my program for Farhan's question :

For i = 1 To 10
a = InputBox(" enter 10 numbers ")
If a ^ (1 / 2) = Int(a ^ (1 / 2)) Then b = b + 1
c = Val(a ^ (1 / 2))
Form1.Print c

If c = Int(a ^ (1 / 2)) Then Form1.Print "is a perfect square": x = x + 1: y = Val(a) + Val(a)
If c <> Int(a ^ (1 / 2)) Then Form1.Print "is a not perfect square"

Form1.Print "---------------------------------------------"
a = 0
Next i

Form1.Print " the total numbers of perfect square is" + Str(x)
Form1.Print " the sum of all the perfect squares is " + Str(y)

write a vb program to rearrange the input according to their  values.

Example

5         1

7         2

6         3

4         4

9         5

8         6

1         7

10         8

3         9

2        10

Dim a(10) as integer

Dim r (10 ) as integer

For i = 1 to 9

a(i) =Inputbox ("insert Value")

next i

For p=1 to 10

For i = 1 to  10

if a(i) =p then r(p) =a(i)

next i

print r(p)

next p

here's some corrections regarding to my previous post.

Dim a(3, 3)
Private Sub Command1_Click()
For r = 1 To 3
For c = 1 To 3
a(r, c) = InputBox("enter any values")
Next
Next

For r = 1 To 3
For c = 1 To 3
k = Right$(a(r, c), 1)
d = Val(k)
If d / 2 = Int(d) Then Form1.Print (d); Else Form1.Print (0)
Next
Form1.Print
Next
End Sub

note that 0 is for odd number. when a number is end with even number, it'll print the "even number".

eg: 23 14 32

     18 67 88

     69 42 96

it'll print;

0 4 2

8 0 8

0 2 6

Dr Ravi, here's the program to convert decimal numbers to binary numbers.

Private Sub Command1_Click()
s = InputBox("please enter a value")
j = Val(s)
10 a = Int(j / 2)
b = a * 2
c = j - b
Form1.Print c
j = a
If j = 1 Then GoTo 11
If j = 0 Then GoTo 12
GoTo 10

11 Form1.Print ("1")
12 Form1.Print

End Sub
Shall we continue the classes? :3

The solution to sum two 100-digit numbers. :)

Dim num1(20), num2(20), num3(20)
a = Text1.Text
b = Text2.Text

For i = 1 To 20
num1(i) = Mid$(a, i, 5)
num2(i) = Mid$(b, i, 5)
Next i

For i = 1 To 20
num3(i) = Val(num1(i)) + Val(num2(i))
c = c + Str(num3(i))
Next i

Text3.Text = c

Hello Ariel, Dont fool arround lah, You have posted a program that does not have a input statement firstly to accept 100 digit number. Where is the question of you getting this program correct. Consult yuganesh and get back to me once I come back on Thursday?

Also, all the students, please singup this link.

Dear Students of Block 6,

                                         Happy holidays and be safe.

Now, I thank all the students who had met me with parents on the parents day. I think, for all those students who met me with their parents, it should have given you some serious thought for your next step in your A -level life.

I was able to know Raid much better, only after his parents were sharing about his experience in computing class. I think Raid will take up the advise I have given him. Syed's parents also seem to be much worried about him - I think with that kind of parents, Syed will sure be alert and do the best during this holidays and come forward with a "Bang" in the new year to improve his grades. Yuganesh's father met me, and the valuable suggestions and advise given should have some serious impact on his learning strategy. In the case of Megat , I feel his parents are too worried in his Mathematics performance. I feel he should also download all the past papers in all his subjects and give a serious revision during this break.

Sughan's Parents also met, but for him from Jan' 2014, I will have a face to face - one to one, coaching. Also, he should not waste his time during this december break and start concentrating in Theory questions and answers. He should download the past year question papers and check to see if he can answer all of those questions.

To all other students, who did not meet me inspite of having the parents in KYUEM, like Nabil, I feel sorry. However, you are all kids and I know you have your own decision making skills, which I should also respect. So, whatever it is, please take up this December break seriously, spend only one hour for all the 3 subjects you have taken, 20 mints each for each subject. Please download all the past year question paper and try to get the answers for them

THE HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT TASK FOR YOU GUYS IS, DOWNLOAD THE 2011, 2012 AND 2013 AS COMPUTING QUESTION PAPER FROM THE WEB, AND ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS EXCEPT CHAPTER 9, AND CHAPTER 10, WHICH WE WILL COMPLETE IN JANUARY 2014. SO I WANT ALL THE QUESTION AND ANSWERS FOR THESE FIVE QUESTION PAPERS , THAT IS, 2011, 2012 AND 2013 - YOU WILL HAVE TWO PAPERS FOR 2011, TWO PAPERS FOR 2012 AND ONE PAPER FOR 2013. THAT IS YOUR ASSIGNMENT FOR THE DECEMBER BREAK.

REGARDS,

ALL THE BEST AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

DR.Ravi

Sir, based on this website: http://papers.xtremepapers.com/CIE/Cambridge%20International%20A%20...

there are 9 different paper for a season of a year, and there are 2 exam season in a year. For example, like in 2011, there're 9 different papers for May/June, and there're 9 different papers for Oct/Nov. Do we need to answer all of these paper for all 3 years?

Dr. ravi,

based on ariel questions,

"there are 9 different paper for a season of a year, and there are 2 exam season in a year. For example, like in 2011, there're 9 different papers for May/June, and there're 9 different papers for Oct/Nov. Do we need to answer all of these paper for all 3 years?" or we just need to choose one paper based on our region only?
