THE RATS INVASION

KYUEM is a peaceful place where students live in harmony. However, there’s a problem that the students are afraid of. THE RATS. The students are afraid. Traps and poisons have been used but none of them are effective because the rats will migrate to the next chalet and double, triple and quadruple every time.So the headmaster, Mr. John Solomon hired a scientist from Madagascar,Brad Pitt to tackle this problem.Pitt suggested that the use of cat can counterattack this problem.Lets see if the problem can be solved..

X represents number of rats
Y represents number of rats the cat can eat

Owh..so cute isn’t it?

What?The cat is Garfield?

So the Pitt’s method is:

24X-41Y=0

24X=41Y

X/Y= 41/24

Substitute into the equation:

41-24=17

2(17)-24=10

3(10)-24=6

4(6)-24=0

See.The problem is solved now.The students live happily ever after.

VISIBLE CAT HUNTER:P

History of snake termination in a paddy field

Darren, a farmer who owns four paddy fields in his village, is facing life threatening snakes in his farm every time he goes there.   Therefore, he tries various ways in solving this problem. He not only puts poison but also, asks expertise to catch the snakes. Yet, it is not effective as it costs a lot when he spends great deal of money in employing the expertise. At the same time, the paddy field is deeply affected when he uses the poison.

One of his friends, named Jack, suggests that actually there is an effective way of curbing this problem, which is by rearing owls in his own farms. Since owl’s prey is snake, it is believed that the amount of snakes in the paddy field will decrease tremendously within a short time, or even become nil. The procedure works as follow:

 Explanation:

X- Number of owls

Y- Number of snakes

First farm- (X-Y)

Second farm- 2(X-Y)-Y

Third farm- 3(2X-3Y)-Y

Fourth farm- 4(6X-10Y)-Y =0

* eventually, the snake population in the paddy field will vanish!

WHY KYUEM IS NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR RATS?

One very fine day, little rat,Danny, asked his grandfather, Mojo, the wisest rat in the colony, if he knew any other places besides Park City(the place where the rat colony now lives) where they can find plenty of food for the entire colony. It is true that Park City undeniably provided plenty of food for the rats since there are many developments taking place throughout the city especially in food and dining. As a result of that you can NEVER find rats which weigh less than 300g!

Of course,Mojo couldn’t lie to his own granson.Could he?How can he forget the wonderful years he had in KYUEM?Those precious moments he spent with his best friend,Loko, who looks similar to his grandson?Undying apetite which was continuously fulfilled by sneaking in to the dining hall, café and the paradise of food, CHALETS!

Mojo:(Giggles)Oh,Danny.Of course there is!I will never ever forget the

place.I could even say that it is better than this Park City.Oh,KYUEM!

How long its been since I last said the word.

Danny:(staring in astonishment)WOW!Is it really that good?I must see the

           place then.Grandpa,can we visit the place?Please?Pretty please?(puts

his hands together and started begging)

Mojo:Oh Danny!I never thought of that until...err..until you mentioned it

moments ago! I thinks its an excellent idea as well!I could meet my lost

         lost friend,Loko.Lets go…NOW!!!

As soon as they reached there,Mojo and Danny had the shock of their lives when…

Mojo and Danny:OH NO!That man just threw a dead rat into the bin!

Mojo:This is not right.(At this moment,Loko’s wife,Lily, grabbed both of them into her tiny house.

Lily:Are you out of your mind? You almost got this boy and yourself killed!

Mojo:Lily! What happened? Why are there rats dying?

Lily:(placed her hands on her face and started crying)Mojo, they brought in a

cat!It eats only a certain amount of rats but somehow now there’s zero

population of rats in the college. This what Loko told me in his last letter.

Mojo:What?!Last letter!Loko is dead?NO!!!!(his screams produces echoes)

Lily:Yes!He is dead. This is what Loko told me in the letter. In order to reduce

the number of rats in the college, the management brought in a

cat.First, they thought it wouldn’t do them any harm but they were

    wrong!The cat knows Mathematics!!

Danny:Grandpa,ask her more.

Lily:Son,long time ago, when your grandpa was part of our colony,we inhabited 4

chalets. We were very happy with our lives until Spot came in!Spot eats

a certain amount of rats per day.First,it “attacked” the 1st chalet. The

remaining rats ran with fear to the 2nd chalet and the population is

doubled.Spot came in there and ate the same amount of rats. The

surviving rats then ran to the 3rd chalet. The population is now trippled.

Spot created havoc in the 3rd chalet as well and still ate the same number

rats. The escaped rats then ran effortlessly to the fourth chalet. The

population increased 4 times.Spot lastly came in there and ate the same

number of rats again and PHOOSH!!The population of rats were 0!!

Mojo:How is that possible?It doesn’t make sense!This is serious!

Lily:Of course I am serious!You think I am joking?My husband is DEAD!Now

     look here carefully.

(Lily takes a paper and started drawing something which looks like a mathematical figure)

Mojo:Oh my god.Spot is indeed a smart cat.I can’t believe my eyes!!

Danny:I want to have a look as well.Show me the figure grandpa!Show me!

Mojo:Alright,here you go.

(Danny looks at the figure and gasped out loud. This is what he sees)

Let x=the initial number of rats in the chalets

Y=the number of rats that can be eaten by the cat each time

Mathematical logic

At the 4th chalet:               Therefore,

24x – 41y = 0                          1st chalet: 41-24         =17

       24x =41y                        2nd chalet: 2(17)-24      =10

       x/y = 41/24                     3rd chalet: 3(10)-24      =6

                                         4th chalet: 4(6)-24       =0(SHOWN)

Hence,   x=41

          Y=24

Mathematical Quiz with solution

Mysterious Five Chocolate Baskets:

A person carries some number of chocolates with him and finds a table which has 5 Big Baskets.

He puts all his chocolates in first Basket, surprisingly the number of chocolates get multiplied 5 times.

He leaves X number of chocolates in Basket 1 and moves the remaining chocolates to Basket 2

Again those chocolates which are put into Basket 2 get multiplied 5 times, he again retains same X number of chocolates in Basket 2 and moves remaining to Basket 3

He does this exercise of retaining X number of chocolates in each Basket and moving remaining to next Basket till he moves it finally to Basket 5

Surprisingly at the end of it, all 5 Baskets will have same X number of chocolates

Question.

How many chocolates he originally carried and how many will be left finally in each of the Baskets?

Solution

1st basket 5x – y                                           2nd basket 25x - 6y

4th basket 625x - 156y                               3rd basket 125x - 31y

5th basket 3125x - 781y = y

The overall equation is

3125x = 781y

X = 781

Y     3125

Therefore X= 781 and Y=3125

The basic solution
He has 781 chocolates initially

1) He puts 781 chocolates in the first basket, it is then multiplied by 5 and totals 3905 chocolates, he then leaves Y amount of chocolates which is 3125 chocolates.

2) He then has a balance of 780 chocolates after leaving 3125 chocolates in the previous basket. He puts 780 chocolates in the second basket, it is then multiplied by 5 and totals 3900 chocolates, he then leaves Y amount of chocolates which is 3125 chocolates.

3) He then has a balance of 775 chocolates after leaving 3125 chocolates in the previous basket. He puts 775 chocolates in the third basket, it is then multiplied by 5 and totals 3875 chocolates, he then leaves Y amount of chocolates which is 3125 chocolates.

4) He then has a balance of 750 chocolates after leaving 3125 chocolates in the previous basket. He puts 775 chocolates in the fourth basket, it is then multiplied by 5 and totals 3750 chocolates, he then leaves Y amount of chocolates which is 3125 chocolates.

5) He then has a balance of 625 chocolates after leaving 3125 chocolates in the previous basket. He puts 625 chocolates in the fifth basket, it is then multiplied by 5 and totals 3125 chocolates, he now has Y amount of chocolates in all the baskets.

We can have multiple answers to this question, the key is x=781/3125 y
