The history of rat termination in KYUEM
Once a upon a time, there were rat invasion in a small college in Lembah Beringin. Student faced a lot of problem as this pest became disease carriers.
So the college administration decided to solve the problem once and for all. So they called many scientists from all around the world to suggest ways to solve this problem. Suggestion such as using poison, traps and even glues were suggested. But none of the methods worked because the rats that are not killed will migrate to the next chalet and double, triple and quadruple every time.
Suddenly, one scientist from Malaysia by the name of Dr.Meghan suggested the use of cat as an effective way to control the pest. The college administration was quite curious about this method. Thus the scientist prepared a working paper as follows…
Some unknown used by Dr Meghan while explaining the method
X….Number of rats
Y….Number of rat the cat can eat
MULTIPLES BY 2 |
X-Y=X-Y 2(X-Y)-Y=2X-3Y
MULTIPLES BY 3 |
MULTIPLES BY 4 |
24X-40Y-Y=24X-41Y 6X-9Y-Y=6X-10Y
Calculation proposed by the scientist
24X-41Y=0
24X=41Y
X/Y=41/24
Let’s check if Dr Meghan’s method is effective…
MULTIPLES BY 2 |
41-24=17 2(17)-24=10
MULTIPLES BY 3 |
MULTIPLES BY 4 |
6(4)-24=0 3(10)-24=6
WOW, Dr Meghan is a genius indeed!!!
And so, all the rats in KYUEM were killed and everyone lived happily ever after.

Rat Thing
In a land called Lembah Beringin, there stood a college with only 4 chalets. As the new students arrived they discovered a major problem with the 4 chalets. All 4 chalets were filled with rats. Thus, after persistent complaints to the teachers Ms. Yati decided to use her cat PawPaw. People doubted that a single cat could counter the rat invasion as the rat population doubled and tripled and so on as the rats fled to adjacent chalets. Ms. Yati knew better than to doubt PawPaw and in a few days there was not a single rat in any of the chalets.
The students demanded answers so Ms. Yati explained through mathematical equations.
24x-41y=0
x/y=41/24
Therefore
x=41 y=24
Re-check
41-24=17
(X2)
34-24=10
(X3)
30-24=6
(X4)
24-24=0
