HOW TO USE A MAIL MERGE

Have you ever came across trying to mail your friends the same thing (e.g. invitations) but with different details such names, dates, venues etc.? Well, fret not dear users! Just try this:

• Use a Microsoft Excel and make a list of details classified in different columns
• Save the excel document and open a Microsoft Word
• Write up the letter
• Go to the top of the Microsoft Word and click on "Mailings" tab
• Click "Start Mail Merge" and "Step by step Mail Merge Wizard.."
• There will appear a column on the right side, click "Next: Starting document.." below there
• Click next until Step 3, then click "Browse" above and find your saved excel document to open it
• Add in the name, venue and date by clicking "Insert Merge Field" in your letter

what i learnt today is how to make use of swf files.(shockwave flash object) for different browsers.

For all the browsers, search for anything added with : swf.  e.g. photosynthesis : swf.

For internet explorer, you have to click on the link and use the tools to download it using Sothink Flash downloader.

For google chrome,it is the easiest. you can directly download it as it has a built-in downloader.

google chrome is also faster when opening websites with flash as it gets 'thrilled' with the flash file.

for Mozilla firefox, it's harder.you have to click tool,then click page info and find 'media' then save as swf file.

after downloading the swf file, say in desktop. you can play the content using KMPlayer .

this knowledge is very useful when doing powerpoint presentations that are interactive.Without the swf player, a suitable player is needed to open the animation inserted in the slides,which takes a long time to load.

ICT Lesson 1/8/12 :

Shockwave File Object. Download swf files from different browsers.

1) Type " *insert anything here* : swf " at google.

2) FOR : Internet explorer : Click on the link > tools > Sothink Flash downloader.

             Google Chrome : tools > save page as > save

             Mozilla Firefox : tools > page info > media > save

3) Play swf file using KMPlayer

Knowledge of the day : Google Chrome is the fastest because it has built in flash player.
