In this lesson,I've learnt how to put an animation or short video into the powerpoint slide.I think it's very useful as the swf files are able to attract the audience's attention and make the whole presentation more interesting.
Today, I learnt how to include animation in Power Point slides to make the presentation more interesting. It is important as sometimes, audience might get bored with all those wordy slides! The use of swf file is amazing and it will be very helpful to me in the future! :)
17th august 2013.
We learnt that we should not play .mov or .avi files in powerpoint presentations, because it will be slow and may ruin our presentation. Instead, we should use .swf files, which will smoothen the process between slide and media/flash animations. We could search :swf files on google and insert the files in our presentation.
Quite neat actually :3
the best ICT lesson so far , I've managed to find the swf files on google and play the animations smoothly on the Microsoft Power Point ! Might be helpful to attract the audience during my future presentations !
The session today was very helpful and fun. I now know how to make my presentations more interesting by inserting videos. Thank you Dr Ravi!
Greetings everyone.
Today I have learned how to include animation file into our slide in the power point. It would be very useful to make our presentation more interesting.
1. Open Mozilla Firefox and use Google as your search engine.
2. Next, search for topics that you are interested in such as managerial accounting or double entry. It should be written like this ; accounting ; swf
3. Download the file and make sure it is in the swf format (or else it will be harder to work well in power point)
4. Open your power point slide and clear all formats in the slide.
5. Search for Developers tab and click a "hammer" icon.
6. Spread the box to fit your entire slide.
7. Then, right click for properties.
8. Fill in the column movie using the details from your swf file that has been downloaded just now.
9. Copy the exact location from your file properties and paste it into the movie column.
10. Next, slash it, write the name of your file and finally end it(dot) with swf.
11. Finally, just click your slideshow icon and enjoy the animation.
:D
^^" I'm very happy actually this morning though I'm a little drowsy. I'd just realised how outdated I was before this, in searching for some imperative information that I need. I used to complain when i was asked to search for information using my computer because it irritates me when the search engines give me a tonnes of websites to go through while my questions will be answered in just a few sentences of all the paragraphs that I've skimmed through. Yes, a waste of time and maybe that's the reason why I'm wearing glasses now and i prefer books. I feel smart today for I've learned how to search effectively for something that i need by adding just several words like :swf ( though I would like to know more on how to search for answers to my questions, for instance : why is the sunset prettier after a volcano eruption? xD)
Anyway, it seems that to Dr Ravi that my Power Point presentations all these while are boring. I thought students will be interested to know more and my English goes haywire whenever i were to speak ^^. It's okay, I guess I'll add some animations into my next presentation =D though the steps are kind of tedious.
Today we learnt about how to "bring" animation into our power point presentation. it is a very useful technique as it is very helpful in creating slide s which are interesting and informative at the same time.
HOW TO "BRING" THE ANIMATION IN;
1. Use Mozilla as your browser(or if cannot use Google Chrome. Dr Ravi told me that Internet Explorer should be the last choice even if I'm really desperate :) ).
2. use a keyword such as "Thermodynamics" and use a ":" next to the search keyword and type in swf ( thermodynamics:swf)
3. download the file by right -clicking and save link as, or by choosing file and click save as. Make sure it is saved as shockwave flash object
4. save the file to your desktop
open a power point blank slide and choose "developer" and click the hammer icon.
5. choose "shockwave flash object" and click OK
6. the cursor will change into a + shape. Drag the cursor from the left upper corner of the slide to the right bottom corner. You will get a large "x" across the slide.
7. select "properties" and minimize the power point.
8. go to your desktop and right click your saved file just now and choose properties. Copy the location of the file.
9. paste the path link of your file just now into the "movie" box of the shockwave flash properties.
10. minimize it again and now copy the name of your file.
11. the final result should look like this
C:\Documents and Settings\ITLAB2 -18\Desktop/Chapter_10.swf
12. now close the properties box and play the slide show. The animation will automatically appear in the slide show.
:)
I have just discovered how to include animations in my power point slide. A picture can tell a thousand words. After searching a name followed by :swf in Google, we just had to save an animation in swf format and open the shockwave flash object in the developer tab of Microsoft PowerPoint. Then, by simply pasting the link and file name in the movie category which can be found in the properties, I can now insert an animation in my slide. I find it very useful since I can now use animations to replace a whole slide of words.
Planning to study biotechnology in the university, i find today's lesson was very helpful. First of all, we have learnt how to use the Google engine search more efficiently. Then, Dr. Ravi had introduced us to swf type of file which can be used if we need to include animation in our Powerpoint slides.
In order to that, make sure you will include ':swf' at the end of your search keywords. then, save the file in swf format and it will be ready to used in your slides. However, to include the swf file in your powerpoint can be a bit tricky but once you're familiar with it, it will be an easy task and you can use less number of slides to explain your content!
Today in Block 5, we learned how to make a powerful presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint and .swf files. Dr. Ravi said that rather than typing in all the information inside one slide (and making the audience feel bored), we should use animation instead (which is cooler anyway! )
So first thing first, we have to search for the swf files. (you should use Mozilla, by the way. and Internet explorer sucks :P )
From Google search, type in your subject of interest (e.g. Word puzzle)
this is how you type in the search box: word puzzle : swf
then, click 'file' from the top panel. and choose 'save page as'. I saved it to the desktop. Also, remember to check if you are really saving it as .swf file (it could be html otherwise, and Dr. Ravi won't like that :P )
Then, open your PowerPoint.
Congratz on learning a new skill today! I hope we'll find it useful in the near future. And thank you, Dr. Ravi :D
