Dear ICT students of AUG 2013 batch under Dr.Ravichandran, I welcome you all this Web portal, which you will be using for your entire course. This http://as-computing.ning portal is were you will have to upload / post all the classroom based activities.

The CIE ICT task will have to be handed to be in person at the end of each CIE task class and the question paper/ CIE folder should not be take with you under any circumstances. That is, the folder should be given to me after your use in class once you complete your Cie task for that particular class.

MAIL MERGE TASK

 

Step 1 : Create a file in Microsoft excel about any information you want to publish. Eg : name, date, venue and time. Save the file.

Step 2 : Open Microsoft Word.

Step 3 : Click Mailings, then click Start Mail Merge. Choose ‘ Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard’.

Step 4 : Click on ‘step 1 : starting document’.Write your  letter that is related to the information. However, left spaces for the respective information that you have created in Microsoft excel.

Step 5 : Click ‘select recipient’ and later click on ‘browse’. Choose the previous file that you have saved from Microsoft excel.

Step 6 : Click the ‘insert merge file’ and insert the information on name,date,venue and the time in the respective spaces left before.

Step 7 : Click ‘preview your letters’ to preview your letters with the complete information.

Step 8 : After you have finished, click on ‘complete your merge’. Save the file.

Team Viewer Task
1) First, click the Team Viewer icon in your desktop. If you don't have one, try to download it. Team Viewer allows us to connect to other computers.
2) In remote control panel, you will see information about your ID and password. You need this to allow others to connect to your computer.
3) you will also see a space to fill your partner's ID. Get the ID from your partner, then click connect to partner.
4) you will be asked about your partner's password. Fill this in and you will be able to connect to your partner's computer.
5) Next, you will see a new window which displays your partner's desktop.
6) You will be able to control the computer as well as transferring files.

1) Go to www.jibjab.com
2) Sign up or sign in by using your facebook account.
3) Choose any of the card provided.
4) You will be asked to upload your picture.
5) Upload picture and edit it by using the tool provided in the website.
6) Add messages if you wish to.
7) Send the card.

Team Viewer Task
Step 1 : Click on the 'team viewer' item in your desktop. If you dont have one, try to download it from the internet.
Step 2 : Enter your partner ID and password. Later, you can connect with her/his computer.

Photo Editting
Step 1 : Go to www.jibjab.com website.
Step 2 : Sign up to create your account with the website.
Step 3 : Choose any of the card and edit any photos that you would like to put in the card.
Step 4 : Add any messages as you wish.
Step 5 : Send the card.

Research Design
Step 1 : Go to issuu.com
Step 2 : Sign up with the website.
Step 3 : Choose whether you want to be the publisher or the reader.
Step 4 : If you sign up as a reader, choose any of the magazines or materials that you wish to read.
Step 5 : You can also click on ‘upload’ button to upload any file that you wish.

Hi, I'm Sarah Damia Meor and today I learnt a few important tools on the computer.

Firstly, I learnt how to ethically hack another computer using TeamViewer, with given permission by the other computer user. The procedure is as follows :

1. Get your partner's ID
2. Click 'connect'
3. Insert your partner's password
4. Voila, you are now connected to your partner's computer

Next, I learnt how to make funny videos and photos on www.jibjab.com.

1. Choose a theme - thanksgiving, birthdays, holidays or gangnam style
2. Go to the 'create and share' link
3. Follow the procedure 
4. Uploading a face - from facebook or desktop
5. Add a message
6. Share it with your loved ones

Thirdly, I learnt how to publish a document and read it like a book on the web through www.issuu.com

1) Go to issuu.com
2) Sign up or sign in by using your facebook account.
3) You can upload big files and convert it into e-book format.
4) This allow you to attach link of this instead of attaching large files and email them to others.
5) Your email recipient can go through your files by clicking the link in their email and read them in the e-book format.
6) You can allow your work to be published in the website.
